#42       Andrew Fischer

3B         Tennessee

20/years old

6' 1"      205

Scouting grades: Hit: 45 | Power: 60 | Run: 40 | Arm: 55 | Field: 40 | Overall: 50

After setting a Duke freshman record with 11 homers in 2023, Fischer transferred to Mississippi and led the Rebels with 20 dingers last spring. He changed schools again, moving to defending College World Series champion Tennessee. He's similar to former Volunteers third baseman Billy Amick, who transferred from Clemson for 2024 and went to the Twins in the second round.

Fischer's signature tool is his plus power that works to all fields, the product of a left-handed swing with bat speed and loft, strength in his 6-foot-1, 205-pound frame and a slugging mindset. He showed that he can launch balls in the air with wood bats last summer in the Cape Cod League. He could be even more productive if he tones down his approach, because his aggressiveness leads to struggles against non-fastballs and strikeouts.

He also could help his cause by upgrading his defense at third base, something Amick was able to do during his lone season in Knoxville. Fischer has below-average speed and range, though his solid arm strength is an asset at the hot corner. He played some second base on the Cape but lacks the quickness for the position.

13. Andrew Fischer – 3B

HT/WT: 6’1/205 | Bat/Throw: L/R | School: Tennessee | Age: 21.1

After a fantastic freshman campaign at Duke, Fischer transferred to Ole Miss where he didn’t skip a beat against better competition. He’s a physical left-handed bat with a ton of juice in the bat, most notably to his pull side.

It’s a violent swing with natural loft and bat speed, allowing Fischer to pull the ball in the air with dangerous intent. Fischer did up his swing rate against the SEC, jumping from 36% at Duke to 43% at Ole Miss, which was attributed to a heightened chase rate.

He does have some issues with spin, though he did show better with Brewster in a smaller sample size and stayed in the zone more. Plus, Fischer absolutely annihilates heaters.

If Fischer takes this approach change to the SEC in 2025, it’s hard to envision him falling outside of the first two rounds. In the field, Fischer isn’t the fleetest of foot and can get a bit clunky, leading to limited range, but he has the arm strength to handle the hot corner or a corner outfield position.

He will join the defending champions in Knoxville for the 2025 season and is expected to be a catalyst for an offense that was poached hard in the draft.

9/15/24 - 2025 Draft Prospect - 3B/OF - Andrew Fischer - Tennessee

3B/OF ANDREW FISCHER (OLE MISS TO TENNESSEE)

The Tennessee Volunteers were quiet on the transfer portal, and then, all of a sudden, they landed two of the top bats in the entire transfer class in Fischer and Kilen. We will start with Fischer, who provided some serious pop for Ole Miss.

Fischer began his collegiate career at Duke in 2023 before transferring to Ole Miss for his sophomore year.

Fischer is a bat-first prospect who generates a ton of power, as he’s seen max EVs up to 113 mph. Fischer generates most of his power to the pull side. He couples that with decent barrel-to-ball skills and the ability to get on base, as he sports a near 14% BB rate.

Defensively, Fischer’s home is a bit unknown because he’s a bit clunky at third base, but has the arm strength to handle the position if he can improve there. He should fill in nicely in the heart of the Volunteers lineup.
