7-13-10: - MaxPreps Junior All-American Baseball Team - Grant McCabe, Cherry Creek (Greenwood Village, Colo.), Outfield - One of only two juniors on the All-Colorado team by the Denver Post, McCabe batted .598 for the Bruins with 43 runs, 49 hits, 23 RBI, 11 doubles, 6 triples and a home run.
7-25 from: - link - I have a good amount of info on Houser, as he’s done the showcase and tournament circuit before. He was very impressive here in the Atlanta area for the 17u WWBA championships pitching for the Dallas Yankees, and I think that’s the main reason why he was named to the Under Armour game. His fastball is already in the 88-92 range, and it touched 94 here. He has some projection, but he looks more like a potential #3 starter than a TORP. His curve is solid-average and it could get better, and he definitely puts some zip on it compared to a lot of prep curveballs. I have one report of there being some potential mechanical issues, but I’d like to see more video to make my own opinions.
7-26 from: - link - Here are some names of draft eligibles for 2011 who have not been mentioned much and are definitely on the radar for 2011 MLB scouting depts. - LHP - Adam Conley, Washington State, 6'3 180, not much talk about him but he has made a mark on the Pac NW scouts lists.
7-27-10 from: - link - Billy Flamion, OF/LHP, Modesto Central Catholic (CA) HS - I list Flamion as an outfielder first, because I think he’s a pure lefthanded hitter who could advance quickly with his mature approach. I don’t project plus-plus power for the 5’11” Flamion, but he’ll hit for average and lots of gap power. Flamion also has a chance to become a solid defensive MLB corner outfielder. On the mound, Flamion throws in the high-80s with the makings of a curve and good pitchability, from the much-coveted left side.
7-27-10 from: - link - Andrew Gagnon (Long Beach State)- Heading into the summer, I hadn’t heard of Gagnon but he has been having a solid summer as he was named the Eastern Division starter. He is 5-1 with a 2.15 ERA in seven games (six starts) for a total of 37.2 innings.
