Cutnpaste: - Carlos Delgado, Kyle Farnsworth, Vincente Lupo, Angel Pagan... and Baseball and Smartphones

Carlos Delgado:

7-9 from: - link  - Carlos Delgado's Major League career is not yet finished -- at least not in his mind. Delgado -- 38 and coming off two hip surgeries since May 2009 -- said he's been running recently without pain, and the plan is to sign with a Major League team by the end of the month. Calls have already been made. "We've contacted a few teams to let them know that I'm working out and I expect to return," Delgado said in Spanish to El Nuevo Dia of his native Puerto Rico. "Pretty much planting the seed."

Kyle Farnsworth:

7-8 from: - link  - Kyle Farnsworth: He is having his best season in five years with a 1.98 ERA and 0.714 WXRL in 30 games for the Royals, though his SIERA is 3.77. The Mets, Phillies, Giants, and Red Sox are among the possible destinations for Farnsworth. Though he has the reputation of being one of baseball's tough guys, he struggled mightily during his time in New York and some question whether he is comfortable on a big stage.

Vincente Lupo:

7-8-10 from: - link  - Vicente Lupo, a 16-year-old outfielder from Venezuela, has signed with the Mets, according to international sources, who said Lupo received a bonus in the low to mid six-figures. Lupo, who has a powerfully built 5-foot-11 frame, is a corner outfielder who stands out for his strength and raw power

7-8-10 from BA: - 25. VICENTE LUPO, LF – VENEZUELA - B-T: R-R Ht.: 5-11 Wt.: 180 - Lupo, who is from Barquisimeto and trains with Jose Montero, played well at the World Youth Championship in Taiwan in August and has developed into one of the top power hitters available from Venezuela. Lupo has plus to plus-plus raw power with good bat speed and strength, especially in his forearms. His power is evident in batting practice, and while he has hit well for some teams in games, others have said he has trouble against live pitching because of his free-swinging approach. Lupo's bat will have to carry him because his size, speed and arm strength will likely limit him to left field. The Royals have shown interest in Lupo, but he is expected to sign with the Mets for a six-figure bonus.

Angel Pagan:

In 2001, Angel Pagan -- then a 20-year-old -- led the Brooklyn Cyclones to a league championship in the franchise's inaugural season. On Thursday, Pagan -- now a star centerfielder for the New York Mets -- returned to Coney Island for a special ceremony, and met with the fans who saw him first. In 2001, Brooklyn's "Angel in the outfield" recorded a .315 batting average (75-for-238), 10 doubles, two triples, 15 RBI, a team-high 46 runs and a franchise-record 30 stolen bases. He was the catalyst of the Brooklyn offense, and among the most popular players ever to wear a Cyclones uniform. - link

Baseball and Smartphones:

7-8 from: - link  - Baseball fans won't have to ask 'who's on first?' anymore, because they will soon be able to find out by themselves, thanks to a high-speed network being established by Global Crossing for MLB.com, the official site of Major League Baseball. Global Crossing's Internet protocol virtual private network (IP VPN) will provide high-speed, high-capacity connectivity to all 30 major league ballparks and MLB.com servers in New York City, according to an announcement Thursday by Global Crossing. Groundwork OpenSource targets the Big Four IT management vendors with an open approach The network configuration will enable the league to distribute live streaming video and other baseball-oriented data to online subscribers
