Mets Option OF Jesus Feliciano to Bisons
Outfielder hit .385 in 53 Games with Buffalo this season
The New York Mets today announced that OF JESUS FELICIANO has been optioned to the Bisons. Feliciano is expected to return to the Herd after this week’s All-Star Break.
Feliciano was promoted to New York on June 7 and hit .291 (16-55) with four doubles, two RBI and seven runs scored in 23 games with the Mets. He collected his first major league hit on June 13 in Baltimore.
Prior to joining the Mets, the 31-year old was the best hitter in the International League over the first two months of the season. His .385 (72-187) batting average through 53 games was 57 points higher than any other batter in the league. He also led the IL in hits (72).
Feliciano now must make up 37 plate appearances for his average to re-qualify among the league leaders. Entering Sunday, Feliciano’s .385 average would be 69 points higher than any other batter in the International League.
Last season, Feliciano was named the Bisons’ Stan Barron Most Valuable Player after hitting .311 (154-495) with one home run and 42RBI in 130 games. He led all IL hitters with his 154 hits.
