Savannah 5, Asheville 3

Jefry Marte enjoyed Saturday night in Asheville. The Gnats third baseman was 3-5 with two home runs and an RBI triple that brought home the go-ahead run in the 10th inning of Savannah's 5-3 win in 10 innings. The Gnats (8-9/50/37) have now won four games in a row, and the first three of their series in Asheville.


Marte has now hit safely in six straight games. He hit a two-run home run in the top of the third and a solo shot in the fifth. Each time, the Asheville Tourists scored in the bottom of the inning to tie the game.

1B Travis Ozga, who is enjoying a big series against the Tourists, was 2-4 with an RBI and a walk. He is now 6-13 with eight RBI in the first three games against Asheville.



Gnats starter Armando Rodriguez gave up three runs on four hits in five innings to go along with eight strikeouts. After he left, the Savannah bullpen of Luis Rojas, Marcos Tabata and Michael Powers combined on five scoreless innings with five strikeouts to give the offense a chance to win the game.
