Press Release: - Buffalo 4, Syracuse 2

The Buffalo Bisons earned a 4-2 win over the Syracuse Chiefs, the Triple-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, in the final game of their two game series Friday night at Alliance Bank Stadium. The Chiefs and Bisons split the two-game set. The Chiefs remain five games behind Columbus in the Wild Card after the Clippers' 2-1 loss to Louisville Friday night.



Buffalo put a run on the scoreboard in the first to go up 1-0 before the Chiefs even had a chance to hit. Andy Green reached to start the game on Jason Botts's missed catch at first base. Green and Lucas Duda (walk) moved up to second and third on a balk by Yuneski Maya, putting a couple of runners in scoring position with one out. Green scored later in the frame on a wild pitch.
 The Bisons added to their run total with a pair of two-out runs in the fifth. After a couple of groundouts to begin the inning, Duda, Nick Evans, Valentino Pascucci and Mike Cervenak connected on four straight singles against Syracuse reliever Jeff Mandel. Duda and Evans scored to stretch Buffalo's lead to 3-0.



The Chiefs' only runs of the night came in the ninth against Buffalo relievers Yhency Brazoban and Mike O'Connor. Trailing 4-0, Michael Martinez knocked in Jason Botts for Syracuse's first run on a sac fly to left with one out. Chase Lambin narrowed the gap to two with a bloop single to left, scoring Seth Bynum from third. The Chiefs put the tying run on first base but Carlos Maldonado lined out to Cervenak at third base to end the game.



Duda, Evans and Cervenak all had multi-hit games for the Bisons. Jason Botts was the lone Syracuse hitter with more than one hit. He collected three hits, all singles.



Yunesky Maya hurled 4 2/3 innings in his first start with the Chiefs. He allowed two hits and an unearned run, walking three and striking out six. He took the loss to fall to 0-1.



Josh Stinson pitched seven scoreless innings for the Bisons to earn his first win. He gave up six hits and walked one. Stinson finished the night with nine strikeouts.
