Mets Select Contract of Bisons INF Luis Hernandez
OF Jesus Feliciano Optioned to Buffalo
The New York Mets today announced that they have selected the contract of INF LUIS HERNANDEZ from the Buffalo Bisons. The Mets also announced that they have optioned OF JESUS FELICIANO to the Bisons.
Feliciano is expected to join the Bisons on Saturday in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Feliciano has hit .342 (100-292) with 17 doubles, one home run, 26RBI and 53 runs scored in 78 games with the Bisons this year. Because he’s only played 78 games, Feliciano is currently 32 plate appearances shy of having his average qualify as the top mark in the International League. Feliciano’s .342 average would be five points better than current leader, Gwinnett’s Barbaro Canizares.
Hernandez, 26, appeared in 47 games for the Bisons and hit.280 (53-189) with 25 runs scored, 10 doubles, four triples and12 RBI. Hernandez played 41 games at shortstop and six at second base. He also spent time with Double-A Binghamton of the Eastern League this season and compiled a .298 batting average (67-225) in 57 games.
