Rodriguez is the Second Gnat to Win the Honor in 2010
SAVANNAH, GA –The South Atlantic League announced today that Armando Rodriguez has been named the Pitcher of the Week in the South Atlantic League for the week of August 23-29.
In his two starts in the week, Rodriguez was 1-0 with a 0.82 ERA (1 ER/11 IP). The 22-year old right-hander struck out 21 batters while walking just two and yielding just nine hits.
Rodriguez leads the SAL in strikeouts with 146 and is fifth in ERA (3.19), third in innings pitched (141), and sixth in WHIP (1.13).
Rodriguez is the second Sand Gnat honored with the SAL’s Pitcher of the Week award in 2010. LHP Mark Cohoon won back-to-back awards for the week of May 31-June 6 and June 7-June 13. The Gnats’ pitching staff boasts the League’s best team ERA at 3.05.
