2-21-11: - bullpenbanter.  Player: Lonnie Kauppila College: Stanford University Position: Second Base Bats/Throws: R/R Tall and very lean; room to add muscle Turned on a fastball and muscled over LF wall for first collegiate HR Worked well at second base

2) Jacoby Jones:

7-7-11: - http://www.perfectgame.org/Articles/View.aspx?article=59882B  JaCoby Jones School: LSU Ht.: 6-3, Wt.: 192 Hometown.: Richton, Miss. High school: Richton The Tigers as a whole might’ve had a campaign to forget, but Jones burst onto the scene as a freshman this past season. He batted .338 (third-best on the team) with 11 doubles, a triple, four home runs and 32 RBIs. He also had a .467 slugging percentage and was 12-for-20 in stolen bases. In the field, Jones made just eight errors to finish with a .962 percentage.

3) Kavin Keyes

6-14-11: - http://bullpenbanter.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=392:college-baseball-weekend-04-observations&catid=18:articles&Itemid=11  - Player: Kavin Keyes College: Oregon State University Position: Second Base Bats/Throws: R/R Height/Weight: 6'0" / 190 lbs. Ranged well to his right and made a strong throw to first base Stays back well and frequently made hard contact Tendency to take first few pitches, but did jump on one first pitch to line into RF

6-29-11: - http://www.mlbbonusbaby.com/2011/6/29/2250695/the-all-reese-team#storyjump  - 2B: Kavin Keyes, Freshman from Oregon State University - This might be cheating as Keyes played a few positions this year before settling in as Oregon State's DH. He was supposed to be a member of the 2011 draft class, but graduated early and took his talents to OSU. He made a few nice plays in games that I watched, ranging well, showcasing a strong arm for the position and showing good reactions (I'm thinking specifically of a play where he made a great leaping catch on a smoked line drive, doubling off the runner at first in the process). At the plate, he showed the ability to take pitches, and did a fantastic job extending his arms while making contact. Honorable Mention: Lonnie Kauppila, Freshamn from Stanford University

4) Tanner Keyes:

6-30-11: - http://www.prospectwire.com/pw/article.php?id=268  - Tanner Elsbernd, MIF, 2013, Tallahassee, FL - Southeast Bluesox (North FL Team) - The talented Elsbernd is a young player in a senior-oriented high school loaded with upperclassmen. His playing time has been limited behind seniors, but the defensive standout from Chiles High School has a projectable 6'0/165 pound frame that will give him a little more thump offensively with strength and game reps. He's still got more growing to do, and it will be interesting to see if that will eventually take him to 3B. Although Elsbernd lacks big time tools, he is a fundamentally sound gamer that is invaluable come crunch time.

5) Patrick Weathers:

6-30-11: - http://www.prospectwire.com/pw/article.php?id=268  - Patrick Walther, 2B/OF, 2013, Tequesta, FL - All-American Prospects (South FL Team) - The 6'0/175 pound Jupiter native has shown versatility on defense, bouncing between the infield and outfield. When you see a player bouncing around on defense, it's usually a good sign that the player's bat is too good to not have in the lineup. Coaches will usually find some kind of spot to put a player, whether that is 2B or the OF in Walther's case. And that theory holds true for Walther, who shows batspeed, pop, and some juice to all fields. Walther is an above average runner for his age, clocking in at 7.1 at last year's JOs as a freshman.

6) Eric Weiss

7-9-11: - http://www.perfectgame.org/Articles/View.aspx?article=6002  - Erich Weiss, IF, Texas - It's easy watching Weiss at the plate why he was so successful during his freshman year for the Longhorns, leading the team with a .348 batting average. Like many of the Collegiate National players, he employed a very patient and disciplined approach at the plate, taking pitches while not afraid to work from down in the count while waiting for a good pitch to drive. A tall, projectable athlete, Weiss presented one of the better, pro-style bodies, and joined Ficociello and Corey Knebel on Kendall Roger's Freshman All-American team.
