Buffalo Pre-Game Notes

TODAY’S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Syracuse Chiefs at Alliance Bank Stadium (7:00 p.m.). The Herd lost the first three games of the four-game set after dropping both games of a doubleheader last night, 6-7 and 5-9. Buffalo is now 3-4 since returning from the All-Star break. The Bisons will return home tomorrow for an eight-game homestand against Pawtucket and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

VS. THE CHIEFS: The Bisons are 2-7 against their divisional rival Syracuse this season. The Bisons are looking to avoid getting swept in a four-game series in Syracuse for only the second time in the Modern Era. Buffalo lost four straight to the Chiefs, June 26(DH)-28, 1999.

ON THE BUMP: LHP PAT MISCH will make his 14th start of the season tonight. The southpaw allowed just three runs in seven innings in his last start against Rochester for his fourth victory of the season. Misch has delivered three consecutive quality starts for the Herd and leads the pitching staff with seven quality outings on the season. He has also posted a 3.12ERA in his last eight starts, the best mark in the International League over that time.

OUR PAL, VAL: INF VALENTINO PASCUCCI clubbed his team-high 14th home run of the season in last night’s game two. The reigning IL Batter of the Week now has 13RBI since the All-Star break and has now driven in 63 on the season (Tied for 3rd in IL). For his Bisons career, Pascucci has driven in 100 runs in 157 games.

BISONS BITS: With four hits yesterday OF JESUS FELICIANO now leads the team in with 75 hits on the season...INF VALENTINO PASCUCCI and OF JASON BOTTS hit back-to-back home runs in the second game of yesterday’s doubleheader...C RAUL CHAVEZ has hit in ten straight games, averaging .371 (13-35) since June 29...The Bisons (9-12) trail the Syracuse Chiefs (14-6) by 5.5 games in the 2011 Thruway Series.

METS UPDATE: The Mets (49-49) lost to St. Louis by a score of 6-2 this afternoon at Citi Field. Former Bison INF LUCAS DUDA collected two hits, including a double and scored one run in the loss. INF JOSE REYES hit his league leading 16th triple of the season. New York will now travel to Sun Life Stadium to take on the Florida Marlins in a three-game series starting on Friday at 7:10 p.m.
