Chris Munnelly:

You could tell he didn’t have near the experience on the mound or the composure of Patrick Johnson or Kent Emanuel, as evidenced by his 57:31 K:BB ratio in 70 innings. Coming out of high school Munnelly was ranked the No. 5 prospect in the state of North Carolina by Impact Baseball. He throws in the mid-to-high 80s, occasionally scraping the low 90s and complements his fastball with a changeup and a curveball.

Kevin Gausman:

7-2-11: - http://www.draftsite.com/article/Quick-MLB-Draft-Hits/89  - The starter for Team USA was LSU’s Kevin Gausman. A 2010 sixth round pick for the Dodgers, Gausman is a sophomore-eligible arm in 2012. How he pitched on Monday really depends on who you talk to you. Those coming in with huge expectations were disappointed and blasted his stock from a potential top 10 pick, to possibly out of the first round. While others had a much more realistic approach and noted that he is still raw but has tremendous upside in a mid 90’s fastball and a plus slider.

Mark Appel:

Cohl Walla:

6-20-11: - http://bleacherreport.com/articles/740905-omaha-eye-openers-2012-mlb-draft-prospects-at-the-2011-college-world-series#/articles/740905-omaha-eye-openers-2012-mlb-draft-prospects-at-the-2011-college-world-series/page/4  - OF Cohl Walla was supposed to be a breakout star this year, but instead, he finished the season very poorly, with a .231 average, zero home runs and only 18 RBI in 49 games. He struck out way too much (40 K in 143 ABs) and stole only three bases all season. Last year he showed much more potential, hitting .316 with 12 doubles, eight homers, 41 RBI and 14 steals. Walla is very athletic and will no doubt go higher than his 43rd-round selection back in ’09, but if he doesn’t have a strong bounce-back season in 2012, he won’t have much of a future as anything other than an organizational player.
