The Glut of Boston Prospects

I read a very interesting article this morning, written by Brian MacPherson of Projo  .

According to him, the success Boston has had in the three drafts covering the 2006-2008 period, they simply have too many good players blocked from getting on with their professional careers. Wose than that, the lion share of them are coming up for the next Rule V draft.

Brian wrote:

“According to www.SoxProspects.com  , more than three dozen players will be eligible for the Rule 5 draft in December, but only about a half-dozen players are the type of players the Red Sox won’t want to lose. For that reason, the Red Sox can afford — and, indeed, might be wise — to trade three or four high-level prospects for an impact player. “

In looking over the list, check these guys out:

LHP Drake Britton – 22-yrs old – A+ - 1-8, 7.03, 16-starts, 47-K, 35-BB, 56.1-IP

C Tim Federowicz – 24-yrs. old – AA - .268/.337/.381/.719 – 6-Hr, 43-RBI

RHP Stephen Fife – 24-yrs. old – AA – 10-3, 3.59, 87.2-IP, 61-K, 27-BB

C Ryan Lavarnway – 23-yrs. old - AA/AAA - .305/.379/.553/.932 – 21-HR, 60-RBI

3B Will Middlebrooks – 22-yrs. old – AA - .316/.363/.539/.902 – 13-HR, 51-RBI

OF Chih-Hsien Chiang - 23-yrs. old – AA - .318/.373/.621/.994 – 14-HR, 62-RBI

OF Che-Hsuan Lin – 22/yrs. old – AA/AAA - .258/.346/.320/.666 – 1-HR

I’m thinking Lavarnway and Britton for Carlos…

You?

Fife and/or Lavarnway. If you can get just one that's something better than nothing.

Interesting you picked the A+ level guy whose got the worst stats of 'em all on your list.

Iloved that kid out of high school - having a tough year handling the workload but I'd love him in the pen for 5+ years
