Satin was drafting in the 6th round of the 2008 draft by the New York Mets.
Satin was drafted at 23 years old, so he’s moving as fast as he can. After signing in 2008, he played for Kingsport (.583/.615/1.000/1.615… okay, it was only 12 at bats) and Brooklyn (.280/.350/.462/.812).
2009 brought Savannah (.284/.385/.418/.803 in 440 at bats, 7-HR, 60-RBI) and a taste of St. Lucie (.364/.464/.591/1.055).

Forecast: It’s obvious that Satin was a good draft pick and the kid can definitely get on base. We should see a little more power this year, but his biggest problem is the fact that Reese Havens is currently being converted to a second baseman in the Winter Leagues. Havens looks timed perfectly for the end of the Luis Castillo contract, which leaves Satin where?
I wrote on Feb 10: - Josh Satin – I didn’t spend much time with Josh last year in Savannah (hell, I didn’t spend much time with anyone there…). There’s no rush for Satin, who will settle into various minor league levels for a couple more years. He was tagged early on as a poor defensive infielder which just isn’t true.
5-27-11: - 2B/1B Josh Satin was asked to play AA this spring so he could get more time in the field. Seems the club had been enjoying his time as a DH in the system, but a boy does have to field in the majors, right? Josh said fine, and went back to where he hit .308 last season, has hit .305 so far this season, and has only committed seven errors playing both first and second. Reese Havens should be done with his St. Lucie rehab sometime this week and Satin needs to pack his backs for Buffalo. He deserves it.

He's a very patient hitter, not afraid to work the count, and comfortable batting with two strikes. Defensively, he's kind of without a position. Doesn't have the arm for third- in Moore's start someone beat his throw on what should have been a routine play- and doesn't have the range for second. The bat will play, though. Don't know if he will ever be a regular, and he's getting up there in prospect years, but I could see an upside of Jeff Keppinger with more walks.

6-29-11: - team press release: - Josh Satin has been selected to represent the Binghamton Mets at the 2011 Eastern League All-Star Game at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester, New Hampshire on July 13. Infielder Josh Satin makes his third straight trip to an All-Star Game. The California native was selected to the South Atlantic League All-Star Game when he played with the Savannah Sand Gnats (Low-A) in 2009. He earned the Most Valuable Player award in the Florida State League All-Star Game last year while a member of the St. Lucie Mets (High-A). Satin went 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in the contest. Through 76 games this season, Satin is seventh in the league with a .314 batting average, tied for third with 22 doubles, and tied for fourth with 48 RBI. The infielder became the first Binghamton Met in the franchise’s 20-year history to hit for the cycle when he performed the feat against the Bowie Baysox on June 24 this year.

Josh Satin – IF – AA/Binghamton: - .327/.425/.547/.972, 10-HR, 55-RBI, 300-AB – Satin is a pure hitter who, I hope for his sake, is being marketed as trade bait. This year’s version of Shawn Bowman. Nowhere to go and no one’s desire to move him. I expect him to remain here, especially after the Queens demotions that will come down with the return of Reyes and Wright.

For the season, Satin has a .967 OPS in 85 games for Double-A Binghamton. Satin earned a callup to Binghamton last year and in 332 PA for the B-Mets he had a .308/.395/.472 line. He has bettered all three of his slash line totals this year and seems likely to get promoted to Triple-A before the season is over. A sixth-round draft pick of the Mets in 2008, Satin has hit wherever he’s been. A two-time Cape Cod League All-Star, Satin played four years at Cal and in his senior season he led the Bears with a .379 AVG and finished second on the club with 18 HR. He was a first-team All Pac-10 selection and third team All-American by Collegiate Baseball
