New Hampshire 4, Binghamton 2

Jordany Valdespin and Josh Satin launched back-to-back home runs in the sixth inning, but it was not enough as Binghamton fell to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats by a 4-2 score at NYSEG Stadium tonight.

The B-Mets fell into an early hole in the first inning. With one out, B-Mets starter Robert Carson had Anthony Gose picked off first, but Jordany Valdespin muffed the throw at second base from Salomon Manriquez. With new life, Gose came home to score the game’s first run on a base hit to the left side by Travis d’Arnaud.

In the third, New Hampshire’s offense kicked into gear. Carson allowed five straight hits, including a two-run double by Mike McDade and an RBI single by d’Arnaud. By the end of the rally, the Fisher Cats held a 4-0 lead.

On the other side of the ball, the B-Mets took five innings to solve Fisher Cats starter Henderson Alvarez. After being kept off the board for more than half the game, Jordany Valdspin led off the sixth inning with his eleventh home run of the season.

Josh Satin followed by lifting the next pitch over the left field fence to cut the deficit to two. It was the third time the B-Mets have hit two or more home runs in a row this season. Satin has been involved all three times.

Alvarez bounced back to post a scoreless seventh and handed the ball to the bullpen, who took it to the finish line. Matt Daly stranded a runner in the eighth inning and Bobby Korecky induced Eric Campbell to bounce into a game-ending double play to notch his seventh save of the year.

The tidy bullpen work made a winner of Alvarez for the fifth time this season. Carson was saddled with his eighth loss. Brad Holt tossed two perfect innings of relief in a no-decision.
