Bisons’ All-Star RHP Chris SchwindenPitches Scoreless Inning in Triple-A All-Star Game

Righty Needs Just 7 Pitches in Perfect Inning of Work

July 13, 2011 –

Buffalo Bisons All-Star RHP CHRIS SCHWINDEN pitched an inning of shutout relief in tonight’s Triple-A All-Star Game from Spring Mobile Ballpark in Salt Lake City, UT. Schwinden entered the game in the bottom of the fifth inning and needed just seven pitches to retire the Pacific Coast League in order. He induced groundouts to first base from Albuquerque’s Trayvon Robinson and Reno’s Collin Cowgill around a ground out to second base from Sacramento’s Anthony Recker. Schwinden’s effort is the fourth consecutive year a Bisons pitcher has pitched a scoreless inning in relief at the Triple-A All-Star Game. Last year, LHP Pat Misch struck out two and walked one in an inning of work. In 2009, RHP Nelson Figueroa struck out a pair and allowed one hit in his inning of work. In 2008, LHP Rich Rundles used eight pitches to get a strikeout and two groundouts in his perfect inning of work. Schwinden, who leads the Bisons with six wins, a 3.07ERA and 81 strikeouts, is scheduled to make his first post All-Star start on Saturday night in Rochester (6:05 p.m.).
