Lowe (38 years old) had an ERA over 5 last year, is owed $15 million next year, and was acquired by a smaller market team. Tell me again why Pelfrey couldn't be traded this offseason as is, or Santana and Bay couldn't be traded next offseason if the Mets ate portions of their contracts?
They actually got a pretty decent kid in the trade.
Lowe came very close to signing with the Mets a few years ago...

I agree Mack, they've made two very questionable pitching acquisitions in a couple of months.
