1. The Mets re-added SP Johan Santana, 1B Ike Davis, 2B Daniel Murphy, and RP Taylor Buchholz to the 40-man. It now has 40 names on it. You know, that’s four pretty decent ads. You throw in David Wright, R.A. Dickey, Jason Bay, Lucas Duda, Jon Niese, Manny Acosta, and Ruben Tejada and the team is off to a good start for the hot stove season. That’s 11 players, leaving 14 more to fill in for the 25-man.
2. The Los Angeles Angels aren’t the only team interested in Omar Minaya. One of my sources tell me that the Baltimore Orioles also have interest in Omar, which hasn’t’ surfaced yet publically. Now you won’t be surprised when it hits the trades.
3. Reliever Dale Thayer, who was removed from 40-man roster of #Mets, has elected for free agency. I didn’t understand this move. Why would you drop a guy that just went 4-3, 2.66, 0.97 in 54-games? Also, he went 3.88/1.16 in 11 games for the Mets. And, he’s only 30 which is baby steps for a reliever. Am I missing something here?
4. We've gone relatively late into the off-season without having the obligatory 8-10 minor league cuts that come every year right after the season ends. Maybe they happened, but I've heard nothing and there's nothing being reported anywhere on the net.
