The Astros selected the 6-foot-4, 240-pound native of Ennis, Texas, in the 40th round in 2012, but he opted to attend Dallas Baptist University. Shaw tied for the team lead with four saves as a freshman, then transitioned to the rotation as a sophomore this year. Through 16 starts, he posted a 3.46 ERA, with 70 strikeouts, 25 walks and only two homers over 88 1/3 innings.
