Montero - so much talent - but not the tough mindset to be a mlb player . When I was a blogger we were given the opportunity to have a q&a session with Chris Carlin & Bobby Ojeda in The then Pepsi Porch. Steve (from the Kranepool society) asked Bobby why some pitchers (I think it was McHugh) had problems adjusting to pitching on the big stage . Bobby said something to the extent that some of these guys just are t mentally prepared to pitch under this type of pressure . I think this includes Montero

Rustyjr - true.

Evans, others - time to move on. Conlon's last chance to prove he belongs, I'd say.

Considering all the hype Montero started with, Mack's caution bells in regard to Alonzo are sounding a bit clearer.
Especially when noticing his recent struggles in the Arizona Fall League.

Of course it could be nothing. But it could be something.

Too bad Christian Yellich or Ozuna were not on the trade block this year

And if they were, and we got 'em, what is our OF when Yo returns?

That’s my argument about upgrading the outfield Bill . I’m just wondering how you upgrade catcher, 3b & the bullpen - especially if you can’t trade Frazier

Rotate 4 outfielders.

Use Bruce as 1st base/5th outfielder.

Keep an eye on possibly moving on from Cespedes.
(Keep in mind, Cespedes could very possibly not play at all during the 2019 season).

A winning mentality should not enter a season planning to run a position as a fill-in until July/August/ or even September.

That would be 3-5 months worth of games being played purposely at a disadvantage before other injuries(that ALWAYS seem to occur with this club)

Good point .. I still feel that Nimmo is a 4th outfielder with a propensity of getting overexposed

Wow Rusty. Can you elaborate? Because I’ve heard players say that their biggest jump was between their first and second full seasons. That is, once they e adjusted to MLB, its speed and schedule, they can handle the game better. That actually, where Nimmo is and he looked good except when the other teams’ pitchers wanted to use him for target practice and then laugh about it, while the Mets did or said nothing...

Well Bobby O kinda alluded to jitters from some players to the speed of the Gabe to others . Or in the case of pitchers the better quality of hitters in the big leagues .. remember when McHugh first came up he didn’t fool anyone .. at times he showed flashes of promise but the Mets ultimately traded him for that reserve outfielder (forgot his name) . He found himself once he got to Colorado or Houston

Eric Young, JR. He should have been a reserve but the dunce with the lineup pencil forgot the old adage that you can't steal first base.

It appears that all the DL players have been placed back on the 40-man (currently at 39, including Jennry Mejia, who's not actually on the 40-man yet) without any designation. I'm unsure what the rules are re the DL during the off season. Does it not exist until the next season begins (even though we know Cespedes won't be able to play until summer at the earliest and Kilome, I assume, till 2020), or does it return during spring training? Anyone care to enlighten me on what the rules are, roster-wise? I assume it matters in terms of the number of players that can be protected from the Rule 5 draft, etc.
