Triantos reclassified to the 2021 ranks from 2022, where he was one of the better two-way prospects in that class. As a pitcher, he has a solid four pitch mix, primarily led by a FB in the low-90's and an advanced CB in the high-70's with great shape. He has a SL and a CH to boot in the low-80's. Low-effort delivery, as well. As a bat, he has a good feel for the barrel and shows off some sneaky pop for a guy who is 6'0", 185. Hit 2 bombs at WWBA, including the longest of the tournament at 424 feet.

James Triantos, SS/RHP, Stars Baseball
Triantos recently reclassified from the 2022 class to the class of 2021, and showed out with one of the louder individual game performances in the last couple of years. Triantos worked in the low-90s with a hammer curveball all while going deep in his first two at-bats of the playoff game. We’ve seen Triantos since his 14u days so the jump to the 2021 class posits interesting draft-related potential.

James Triantos is a 2022 SS/RHP with a 6-0 180 lb. frame from McLean, VA who attends St. Johns College. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and present physical strength proportioned throughout. Ran a 7.08 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, athleticism plays in actions and shows balance on the charge, extra step through release, quick arm through the back and shows strength and carry on throws across the diamond, ball comes out well with effort at release, fields the ball out front and shows accuracy. Two-way potential, similar quick arm through the backside and generates solid plane from an over-the-top release; fastball topped out at 89 mph, mostly true in life with angle out of hand and ability to work to either side. Tunnels curveball well up to 76 mph with 12-6 shape and late biting life, flashed a firm changeup at 81 mph that proved effective against lefthanded hitters. Lefthanded hitter, begins with a spread stance and a high hand set and lower back elbow in the box. Keeps hands inside the ball and shows a fast bat path, barrel stays in the zone well. Shows carry to the gaps with a linear stroke, consistent in getting the barrel to ball with occasional whip, projects well

Triantos has an athletic frame that has projection left to it. On the mound, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot. Short very quick arm action, normal effort to his delivery. Ball jumps out of hand, fastball was 84-88 on the day, sitting in that 86-88 range early. Change-up has heavy fade and good armspeed at 81-82. Curveball is best pitch and he shows advanced feel for it. Throws two versions, one to get a strike and then a wipeout swing and miss version. Overall pitch is 70-76 with sharp 11/5 break, when in the 75-76 range pitch is spectacular. At the plate, hits from the right side, short swing with some batspeed, used whole field and is a line drive hitter now with some gap power and the potential for more as he continues to get stronger.
Mack's spin -
I don't have much knowledge on this kid.
It seems he has to decide if he is going forward as a hitter or pitcher.
