(stats as of 5-9 )
Here is this week’s five outside targets that could find themselves having their names called in the draft this year:
. Tristan Garcia - Alcorn @tristingarcia7
Liam McGill of Bryant continues to lead the nation with a .467 batting average, but the junior Garcia is right behind him at .448.
The 5-4, 185 Garcia sprays to all parts of the field and has a whopping 1.103-OPS
. Kevin Kopps - Arkansas @KevinKopps
Don’t be surprised if the redshirt senior Kopps is chose on Day 2 of the draft. After 22 appearances, he leads the nation with a 0.72-ERA.
The 6-0/200 Kopps has come a long way from the 8.08- ERA he posted in 2020. He’s now 7-0 on the season and has 83 strikouts in 49.2 onnings thrown.
. Mason McWhorter - Georgia Southern @Masonmcw14
Oklahoma’s Tyler Hardman leads the nation with 74 hits, but the senior McWhorter is two steps behind him with 72.
The 6-1/200 grad student also has a .398 batting average, has hit 13 home runs, and has an OPS of 1.188.
Look for him to get major 2nd day action with a 10K bonus offer.
. Will Frizzell - Texas A&M @Will_Frizzell
Florida State catcher, Mat Nelson, continues leading the way with 20 home runs, but tied for second with 18 is the senior Frizzell.
Frizzell stands 6-3/230 leads the team with a .349 batting average and has only struckout 38 times in 186 at-bats.
Like McWhorter, a future second day $10,000 bonus pick.
. Nicholas Sinacola - Maine @nicksinacola
Who would think that the guy chasing Kumar Rocker for strikeouts (110), would be someone from Maine (107)?
The junor Sinacola stands 6-1 and is the Friday night starter for Maine. He’s 8-1 on the season after nine starts and has rang up those 107-K in only 57.1-IP. Only 18-BB.
Watch for some team to take a chance on this darkhorse on the second day.
