Good morning.
The Mets pick 1.10, 2.46, 3.81, and 4.111 in the 2021 draft.
We always talk about the pick at 1.10, but this is a deep draft, especially for positions like RHP, OF, and SS,
Here are three more names for each round to remember that will most probably still be on the board when the Mets pick, plus a little background on them.
I will update this list throughout the time leading up to the draft,
So, who should still be on the board at:
2.46 -
Jonathan Childress LHP TAMU
Bog (6-4) power lefty. Coming off TJS and still struggling to get his speed up. Currently around 93.
2021 stats so far: 9-G, 8-Starts, 2-4, 4.17. Does have 51 strikeouts in 36.2 innings pitched.
I have Childress as my 7th top lefty, in a questionable lefty class.
Tyler Thornton RHP Arizona State
Was a Freshman All-America, and trasferred to ASU last season.
Thornton needed to tick up on his fastball this year and take a step forward throughout his game and the results so far have not been promising.
Current 2021 stat line, as of 4-21:
9-starts, 1-2, 4.06, 1.42, 44.1-IP, 47-K, 23-BB
I have him currently as the 18th RHP on my board.
Max Ferguson 2B Tennessee
Ferguson will be the first second baseman picked in 2021.
Has Brandon Nimmo like OBP skills. Projected 15-20 home run range. Average defender.
Offensive output has come to a surprising screaching halt this season. Current 2021 stat line, as of 4-21:
37-G, 130-AB, .238, .787-OBP, 32-BB
3.81 -
Wes Cath 3B Desert Mountain HS (AZ)
Power bat first third baseman. Capable glove and strong arm has him sticking at third.
I currently have him as the 3rd third baseman drafted, behind Alex Benelas and Izacc Pacheco.
Sean Burke RHP Maryland
6-6/230… fastball topping at 95… wipeout slider… potential closer
Current 2021 stat line, as of 4-21:
7-starts, 2-2, 4.50, 38-IP, 62-K, 17-BB
I currently have him as the 33rd righty on my board
Brandon Clarke LHP Independence HS
Coming off Tommy John Surgery.
Fastball touches 96 with projection for more. + slider and changeup gives him three swing and miss pitches.
This kid could be a real future star in this game.
4.111 -
Lonny White OF Malvern HS (PA)
White plays very good baseball, but he is probably a better football player. Top recruit to play wide receiver at Penn State next year.
Speed, power, and defense are the name of the game for this centerfielder.
It would take major slot money to sign White, something the Mets have a lot of experienicng in doing.
Davis Diaz SS Acalanes HS (CA)
Another highly regarded prep shortstop.
+ defender with solf hands and quick trigger… projects to have above average hit tool with 15-H range potential.
I have him as the 16th SS on my board.
Will Bednar RHP Mississippi State
6-2/240… solid fastball/curve combo… solid tunneling… fastball in 92-95 range… 83-84 slider (2800-2946 rpm)
Current 2021 stat line, as of 4-22:
8-G, 6-ST, 2-1, 3.55, 33-IP, 52-K
I have him as the 43rd RHP on my board.

Some good looking players there - the guy who is a possible future pen arm looked best to me
