Mets lost a rain shortened game in May 11, 2006. Steve Trachsel gave up single runs in the 1st on a Chase Utley HR and in the 4th on a Shane Victorino double and David Bell single. The big play of the game happened in the top of the 1st when the Mets had their best scoring opportunity. With the bases loaded and 2 out, Xavier Nady drove a ball to deep CF that Aaron Rowand caught running face first into the chain link fence.

A great match up between two future Hall of Famers did not
disappoint as the Mets led 3-0 going into the 7th. Mets scored 1 in the 5th on a Bobby
Klaus double (with Spahn thrown out at the plate on the play after 1 run
had scored) and 2 in the 6th on a Roy
McMillan double. Lou Brock’s
2 run HR tied the game at 3 in the 7th and Tim
McCarver’s bases loaded groundout drove in the winning run in the 8th. Mets had 1st and 3rd
with one out in the bottom of the 9th but Joe
Christopher grounded into a double play to end the game. |

the result of participating in a fifth-inning bench-clearing brawl at Shea

combining to give up the tying runs in the team's eventual 7-6 walk-off victory
