All 9 Mets starters draw a walk

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (May 8, 2021) – The St. Lucie Mets won their third consecutive game, defeating the Jupiter Hammerheads 8-4 on Saturday night at Clover Park.

Matt Dyer crushed a three-run homer in the first inning to give the Mets a 4-1 lead they would not relinquish. It was Dyer’s first career minor league homer.

The Mets walked 11 times during the game. All nine starters for the Mets drew a free pass and seven of the nine registered a hit.

Dyer fell a triple short of the cycle. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, double, single, walk, three RBI and three runs scored.

Jose Peroza went 2 for 4 with two RBI. Pete Crow-Armstrong was 2 for 4 with a walk and a run scored.

The Mets only needed three pitchers to piece together the nine inning contest. Starter Dylan Hall was solid over four innings, scattering three hits and allowing two runs. He struck out five.

Franklin Parra struck out four batters in three innings to get the win. The only hit he gave up was a solo home run to Osiris Johnson.

Hunter Parsons tossed the final two innings in a non-save situation.

Hall, Parra and Parsons combined for 13 strikeouts. Mets pitchers have now struck out the Hammerheads 61 times in five games.

Jupiter’s Victor Mesa, Jr. went 2 for 4 and drove in three runs.

The Mets (4-1) and Hammerheads (1-4) conclude their six-game series at Clover Park on Sunday at 12:10 p.m. Don’t miss the Mets Community Market which is held just outside the ballpark’s front gates from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
