A stud OF AND an arm? Nice. Can't wait for the draft.
My lists are fluid and change based on info that comes in.
I already have new info that places LHP Carson Whisenhunt in the top 20 but that’s next week.
And another one for Conforto
I'm curious on your thoughts about Shermans Post article.
Gary, just to jump in, I think Sherman's ideas are worth exploring. It's Cohen's checkbook, I encourage him to use it lavishly.
I no longer read his stuff.
Jump all you want.
Mack, thank you for keeping the draft prospect updates coming. In all the years I have been a baseball fan, I have never looked at these guys until they were actually drafted. I am enjoying getting to see the names and their rankings.
As far as the Sherman article that Gary asked about, I don't generally read his columns, but did go back for this one. Just a couple of thoughts - with the money they have left, they need to look for the smallest injury risk they can. I used to be on the Rodon bandwagon, but he just seems too fragile to spend upwards of $20M on. While I understand that nobody can have guaranteed health for a full year, a guy like Kikuchi would be interesting as a left hander. It is hard to tell why his numbers fell in the second half, but overall, he has been healthy.
I don't mind McHugh. No to Andrew Miller and Brett Gardner.
If not Kikuchi, I think the trade route for either Castillo or Manaea may be the better avenue.
Oh, and Mack, anything specific you are getting that drops both the Joneses (Druw and Brock) down? I thought they have both been top 10 or even top 5?
1. Thank you. I will continue to add more raked players to, at least, the top 20. Less for 2B. More for OF & RHP.
You should know all these guys by draft day.
2. The ranking is based on info from ours coming in. Mock drafts, writers, scouts, coaches, etc.
Dru is bouncing around.
Brock was passed by outside mocks.
Mack, thank you for this. It helps people like me that really don’t follow the student athletes.
One thing I find myself constantly trying to find is Mets prospects info. There just doesn’t seem to be enough out there with some depth. Prospects1500 is good, and several places put out some updated lists in August, but other than BA, I haven’t seen a new list yet post regular season.
I know that I’m liable to be laughed out of the blog, but based on offensive and defensive tools and results, I think Khalil Lee needs to be #3 or at worst #4 following the year’s results.
I love Lee also.
As well as Khalil Lee did in 2021 getting on base and upping his power as the season progressed, his Ks were high still per PA. That may be an unavoidable by-productive of working so many BBs and HBPs, but he still needs to not fan as much, considering how much tougher MLB pitchers are in that regard. Fix that, and he could be a star.
