The recent trades and promotions which have added strong offensive players to Brooklyn and Binghamton led to to a 13-12 come-from-behind…
HIGH A WIN:
Thrusters-on-full Jett Williams had 2 hits and 3 runs scored, including forcing a 9th inning error that allowed Brooklyn to temporarily grab the lead.
His fellow on base specialist Rhylan Thomas had a walk and a key hit and RBI in extra innings, leading to a 13-10 lead that was nearly coughed up in the final home team at bat in extras, as two runs made it a nail biter win.
Ryan Clifford (21) popped another HR, and clearly has no-doubt power. Parada (11) and Consuegra (19) homered too, as did Omar DLS. YES, it was a road game.
AND A 7-6 AA WIN:
In Bingoville, a 6-1 deficit was erased with a 2 run 7th and 4 run 9th.
Acuna, Gilbert and Jackson were newbies with good nights. Jackson smashed his 20th.
Even the lineup’s 3 sub .200 hitters (unnamed here) joined the party, going 4 for 10 and a few walks (and, naturally, 6 strikeouts between the 3, which is why they’re under .200).
Not to be overlooked is 2021’s 111th overall draft pick, JT Schwartz, who quietly has hit .291 with 35 RBIs in 191 ABs and low Ks this year.
JT NEEDS TO STAY HEALTHY TO PLAY MORE TO IMPRESS MORE.
Just 55 games this year.
My unsolicited advice for JT is also to add 25 pounds of muscle to his listed 6’4” 215 frame and turn into more of a power hitter, like Jeff McNeil did when he added beef.
8 HRs in 779 pro PAs is on the inadequate side for a 1B (who also has 14 errorless games in left field, and just 1 error in 35 games at 1B this year, so he has glove excellence).
JT, though, is torching it of late:
.333/.443/.453 in 19 August games.
KEEP IT UP, JT.
When you have hitters who can really hit, rallies can really happen.
I really like that, don’t you?

Tom,
Our recent trade acquisitions are doing well. If we can blend them in with the prospects we already had, we could have a brighter future in 2024.
My suggestion remains to target 2025
Mid 2024 for Gilbert and Acuna is my hope.
I am concerned, though, with the K rates of Clifford and Jeremiah Jackson. Rhylan Thomas and JT Schwartz fan far less.
Major league pitchers fan far more.
So much talent in Mets farm system right now. More cream needs to start rising to the top and/or be packaged for controllable all star caliber players.
JT Schwartz looks like a young Olerud. If Pete is traded he could be next man up.
Your right,Ernie, next year this might be a top 5 system.
Ernest, agreed.
I just want to see high K guys focus on fixing that and not becoming the next fanning Khalil Lee. That is why guys like JT and Rhylan are attractive. When you fan, your average in those ABs is .000.
Agree
Beginning 2025 the Mets have solid bat depth with special thanks to Appler for his sell off deals
That being said wrong choices underdevelopment and injuries have limited pitching growth
JT has had limited power throughout his career
Pete's pop stood out in college
No comparison here
Mack, no argument there
So, I look at Fangraphs May 2023 top 37 prospect list. No JT Schwartz. His career to upgrade, not mine.
Per MLB Top 30 Mets prospect list…Rudick at 28 - here is what his injury involves: Rudick’s breakout came in 2023, when his high contact rates pushed him to Double-A Binghamton, where he hit .289/.435/.478 through his first 58 games before a shoulder injury put him on the injured list in late June.
I agree. Fill in with some veterans on 1-2 year deals to bridge the gap.
Excellent report again, Tom. But I must ask-- how did Jett "force" an E? I didn't know that coukd be done. 😉
I'm beginning to wonder: will Matt Allan EVER throw a pitch in our system? Have you seen any recent progress reports?
It is important that these minor league players are brought up in a culture of winning. This has not been the case over the last several years.
I've always been a believer that part of developing prospects is putting them in a winning culture.
Matt Allan is somewhere in a cornfield pitching to Robert Redford. Since his surgery was in January, no news, and my guess is come March, and maybe in April St Lucie games, he will be pitching again. Hopefully he has a problem-free 2024 and ends 2024 on a high note. He still has just 10 regular season pro innings. Boggles the mind.
Bill, speed causes fielders to rush.
Ray, Binghamton and Brooklyn are around .500, and Syracuse and St Lucie are well below .500.
Ronny Mo - I'd have to look (which I won't) but I wonder if he has ever been on a .500+ team. Pretty sad.
Today highlighted JT Schwartz. Ex-Mets prospect JT Ginn is 1-3, 7.43 in limited innings this year. We got a year of Bassitt for him.
Tom, Being reported that Marco Vargas and Ronald Hernandez have been called up to St Lucie from the Florida rookie team.
Prospects are catching the GM's attention.
Tom,
Excellent prospect article this morning. Keep them up, we enjoy them.
Thanks, D J. A few more articles regarding prospects coming in the weeks ahead. Great to see those two promoted from FCL.
That is great news! The FCL season just finished with a one and done elimination game and now these kids will get a couple of weeks of better competition to have in mind for next year.
That's 10 more than I thought. 😥
St Lucie lost 2nd game of doubleheader tonight 15-6. Dunedin got up just 6 innings and yet walked 18 times. A record?
