Strassburg, Released, Irish MLB Players, Cora... and Takahashi

Strassburg:

We've updated THT Forecasts today, fixing the pitcher MLE process (this is the same fix we instituted for hitter projections last week) and adding players who did not play in 2009, such as Ben Sheets. Note that even after fixing the pitcher MLEs, Stephen Strasburg still projects for a 2.86 ERA this season. Wow. - HBT

Irish MLB Players:

"The most recent Irish born Major Leaguer is Joe Cleary. Cleary, born in Cork in 1918, appeared in one game with Washington in 1945. It did not go well. He recorded one out, allowed five hits and walked three, en route to allowing seven runs. His career ERA stands forever at 189.00. Cleary died in Yonkers, NY, in 2004." - BTBS

 Cora:

If Alex Cora was worth every penny of the $2.5 million the Mets paid him to be Jose Reyes insurance, then why would the Mets consider acquiring Cristian Guzman when it's time to cash in on the insurance policy?

Did Omar Minaya wake up and realize "Holy %$@#, we've gotta play Alex Cora every day!!!"

Takahashi:

Manuel said Hisanori Takahashi has the sharpest pitches in camp "right now."  - Merty Noble
