TODAY’S GAME: This afternoon, the Bisons host the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees for the final game of a four-game series at Coca-Cola Field (1:05 p.m.). The Herd needs a win today to split the set as the Yanks have won two straight since Buffalo’s 2-0 victory on Saturday. The Bisons are currently 3-2 in their season-opening homestand after sweeping a two-game set from Pawtucket last week. Tomorrow, the Bisons leave for a six-game roadtrip that starts with a pair of games in Rochester against the Red Wings.

vs. THE YANKS: The Bisons are 4-3 against the Yankees so far in 2010. The Herd began the season series by taking three of four from the Yanks in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, April 8-11. Dating back to last season, the Bisons have won seven of their last 11 matchups with the Yankees.

HARD HITTIN’ HESS: INF MIKE HESSMAN collected his team-high 10th RBI of the season with a sacrifice fly yesterday. The slugger is 5th in the International League with those 10 runs driven in. Hessman is also tied for 2nd in the IL with four home runs and 5th with his .722 slugging percentage. Hessman has reached base in all but two games this year and is hitting .333 (12-36).

MVP RETURN: The Bisons 2009 Most Valuable Player is heating up. OF JESUS FELICIANO went 2-2 with a walk and a stolen base in yesterday’s game. He now has a four-game hit streak, over which he has averaged .417 (5-12). Last season, Feliciano led the entire International League with 154 base hits. Feliciano has averaged .311 over the last three seasons in the Mets’ system.

SOLID STARTER: LHP PAT MISCH is in search of his first “W” of the season today. The southpaw has pitched well for the Herd in his first two starts of the season. On April 10 in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Misch held the Yankees scoreless over six innings but didn’t earn a decision. Last Thursday, he allowed just two runs in 4.2 innings in the Bisons’ 3-2 comeback win over Pawtucket.

ROSTER MOVE: RHP TOBI STONER has been optioned from the Mets to the Bisons. The pitcher made one appearance for New York, Sunday night in St. Louis, to bail out an exhausted Mets’ bullpen. Stoner allowed just one run on three hits in 2.1 innings of relief but took the loss against the Cardinals.
