Buffalo couldn't pull even with Durham as the Bulls scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning en route to a 6-4 victory over the Bisons from Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The Herd fought back all game, even getting its first inside-the-park home run in almost three years, but didn't have enough offense to get past the IL South division leader. Run-scoring groundouts from Matt Joyce and Chris Richard pushed Durham ahead 2-0 and Angel Chavez doubled the score with a two-run single to centerfield. Buffalo got on the board in the second inning on Andy Green's RBI-double. Russ Adams homered in the fifth inning, four batters before Mike Cervenak made it 5-3 Bulls with one of his three hits on the game. hen, trailing 6-3 in the seventh, Mike Jacobs led off with a towering flyball to left-centerfield off reliever Mike Ekstrom. The ball ricocheted off the giant Blue Monster at Durham Bulls Athletic Park and high into the air. At first, the Bulls fielders didn't go after the ball, giving Jacobs enough time to race around the bases for and inside-the-park home run.
BISONS NOTES: Andy Green stole his first base of the season. He finished the game 2-3 with an RBI and a walk...As a team, Bisons batters struck out 13 times...Russ Adams batted leadoff for the first time all season. He was 1-5 with his fourth home run of the season.
