Drew Gagnon
7-19 from: - link - Gagnon is one of those college pitchers that can put up very good numbers against wood bats because of his command. His fastball isn’t anything more than solid-average, and while he has a solid-average slider and above-average changeup, that’s not going to project for much more than a #3/4 starter at the Major League level. If he firms up the slider, he could be a late first round option in a lot of classes, but in this coming class, he looks like a 2nd-4th round arm.
Michael Palazzone:
7-18 from: - link - On Georgia righty Michael Palazzone (1-1, 1.40, 25-3 K-BB in 26 IP): "It's crazy how an aluminum bat can really destroy guys' seasons. He can really pitch, he's got command to both sides of the plate, an average to maybe a tick above-average changeup, a breaking ball he can throw for strikes. He repeats his delivery, he's got very good command, and he keeps them off balance. He's been drafted twice before, I can see why. He's 91-92 with a good body and a loose arm. And he's a great kid."
Kevin Cron:
7-13-10: - MaxPreps Junior All-American Baseball Team - Kevin Cron, Mountain Pointe (Phoenix, Ariz.), Catcher - An all-state pick by the Arizona Republic, Cron tied a state record by blasting 22 home runs. He batted .491 on the season with 24 runs, 54 hits, 10 doubles and 52 RBI to go with his prodigious home run total. Committed to play at TCU following his senior year.
Scott Schebler:
7-21 from: - link - OF, Scott Schebler, Wichita St, 6'2 210, L/R, this kid runs well for his size and is a FA currently but also committed to Wichita State for 2011. Arm is solid, glove is ok, doesn't get great breaks on balls hit in the gap but makes up for it in his quickness afoot, has a bit of a loop in his bat, not always though, he feels for the pitch at times. Reminds me some of former ML Gary Varsho (Cubs for one of the clubs he played for). May steal a base or two along the way, ran 6.8, 60 in workout.
Tyler Pill:
7-22 from: - link - In the Cape Cod League, Harwich beat Orleans 2-1 for its fourth win in a row. With the game tied at 1-1 in the top of the ninth, Tyler Pill (Cal State Fullerton) hit a solo home run to give the Mariners the lead. That set things up for Matty Ott, who closed the door and picked up his sixth save.
