Bisons Add Barrett, Owen to Roster


Mets Recall Acosta, Blaquiere Transferred to St. Lucie



The Buffalo Bisons today announced that C MICHAEL BARRETT and RHP DYLAN OWEN have been added to the club’s active roster. Also, the Mets recalled RHP MANNY ACOSTA from the Herd today while C JEAN LUC BLAAQUIERE was transferred to Single-A St. Lucie.


Barrett, 33, was signed by the Mets as a free agent on June 29. Since then, the veteran catcher has played 15 games for Single-A St. Lucie and hit .220 (11-50) with three RBI and three runs scored.


Barrett only played 17 total games in the Toronto Blue Jays system during an injury-plagued 2009 campaign and was a free agent heading into 2010. During his 12-year career with the Montreal Expos, Chicago Cubs, San Diego Padres and Blue Jays, Barrett batted .263 with 98 homers and 424RBI in 1,054 major league games.


Owen returns for his second stint with the Bisons this season. The pitcher was 3-4 with a 6.17ERA in nine games and seven starts for the Herd from May 18 - July 1. In-between, Owen posted a 3-1 record and a 3.28ERA in eight starts and six relief appearances with the Double-A Binghamton Mets.


Acosta was 2-3 with a 3.47ERA and five saves in 328 appearances out of the Bisons bullpen. Blaquiere hit .318 (7-22) with two home runs and five RBI in six games for Buffalo.
