LAST GAME: Thad Weber was dominant in a complete-game

effort, leading Erie over the B-Mets 2-1 Friday night at NYSEG

Stadium. The right-hander limited Binghamton to just a run on

four hits and struck out four without issuing a walk for his

seventh win of the season. The B-Mets lone run came in the

first inning, courtesy of a Nick Evans solo homer to left, his

17th blast of the season. Mark Cohoon gave his best outing to

date in a Binghamton uniform, but it was not enough. The lefty

allowed two runs over 5.1 innings and was hung with his third

loss. The bullpen was terrific in relief of the starter. Manuel

Alvarez and Eddie Kunz combined to retire the final 11 Sea-

Wolves’ hitters in order. Alvarez worked 1.2 innings with three

strikeouts and Kunz tossed the final two frames with two

punchouts. Chris White was the offensive standout for Erie

with a 2-4 showing, including his first homer of the seeason.

STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP: RHP Chris Schwinden will

make his 11th start for Binghamton tonight. He gave up five

runs on six hits over five innings in his last start, a loss, July

19 at Bowie. Schwinden has been harassed for 13 runs in his

last three starts (14.2 IP/7.98 ERA). With the B-Mets, he is 4-

6 with a 5.37 ERA over 60.1 innings. He was named a 2010

Florida State League Mid-Season All-Star after his promotion

to Double-A. Schwinden opened the year with St. Lucie (High-

A) and went 3-0 with a 1.83 ERA over 34.1 innings. He spent

most of 2009 with Savannah (Low-A) where he was 9-6 with a

3.28 ERA over 115.1 innings. Schwinden was the Mets’ 22nd

round selection in the June 2008 draft out of Fresno Pacific

University.

LHP Duane Below is due to make his 20th turn in the Erie

rotation tonight. He has lost back-to-back starts, with his last

loss occurring July 19 versus Reading. Below allowed three

runs on nine hits over five innings. He is 3-9 with a 4.57 ERA

over 80.2 innings. Below made eight combined starts between

Lakeland (High-A) and Erie last season with a 2-4 mark

and a 2.70 ERA (40 IP) before landing on the disabled list for

the remainder of the season with a left elbow sprain. Detroit

drafted the lefty in the 19th round of the June 2006 draft out

of Lake Michigan College.
