TONIGHT’S GAME: Tonight, the Bisons face the Toledo Mud Hens in a pair of games from Fifth Third Field (Game 1: 6:00 p.m.). The Herd and Hens must first complete Friday’s suspended game before playing Saturday’s regularly scheduled contest. The teams will play all nine innings of the first game before a seven-inning second game. Tonight’s action will complete the first two games of a four-game series in Toledo. The Bisons will then travel to Columbus to take on the Clippers for four games.

WAIT FOR IT: Friday’s game was suspended in the top of the fifth inning with Toledo holding the 6-0 lead on the Bisons. Buffalo’s OF JORGE PADILLA was set to face Toledo’s LHP Andrew Oliver with no one on base and no outs. Toledo took its lead on a three-run homer from OF Wilkin Ramirez in the second inning and a two-run shot from OF Casper Wells in the third. Both homers came off Bisons RHP DILLON GEE, who allowed six runs on nine hits in four innings of work. He did strike out five Mud Hen batters.

OH, THE SUSPENSE: The last time the Bisons had a game suspended was June 27, 2008 against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. With the score 1-0, the Yankees hit two, ninth-inning doubles through a thick Coca-Cola Field fog to tie the score. The game was then suspended. On June 28, Bisons’ OF TODD LINDEN came through with a pinch-hit RBI-single in the 10th inning for the 2-1 win.

vs. MUD HENS: The Bisons are 2-2 against the Mud Hens this season. The teams split a series at Coca-Cola Field, May 27-30. The Bisons are winless in five straight games at Fifth Third Field. Buffalo’s last win in Toledo was May 28, 2008 as OF RYAN MULHERN knocks in three in a 5-3 victory.

HESSMAN RETURNS: INF MIKE HESSMAN is returning to Fifth Third Field for the first time since a five-year run with the Mud Hens. Hessman hit 140 homers in 591 games with Toledo, more than double any other player in the club’s 113-year history. Hessman was named the 2008 IL MVP while with Toledo and helped the Mud Hens to back-to-back Governors’ Cup Championship during the 2005 and 2006 seasons.

METS UPDATE: The Mets (50-47) earned a 6-1 victory over the Dodgers last night. OF JASON BAY had two hits and drove home three runs for New York. Former Bisons INF IKE DAVIS added his 14th home run of the season and LHP JOHAN SANTANA allowed just one run on five hits in seven innings of work. The Mets take on the Dodgers again this afternoon at 4:10 p.m.
