Savannah 6, West Virginia 3

from press release:

The West Virginia Power lost 6-3 to the Savannah Sand Gnats in 10 innings at Appalachian Power Park on Friday night. The Sand Gnats tallied three runs on three hits in the tenth to avoid being swept by the Power in the four game series.

Savannah gained the lead two outs into the game on Cesar Puello’s first home run of the season, but West Virginia lead 3-1 after one complete inning. In the bottom of the first, the Power saw three of the first four hitters reach before Jesus Brito walked with the bases loaded to tie the game. Kyle Morgan followed with a two run single for the 3-1 lead.

In the second, Alex Gregory doubled in a run for the Sand Gnats. With one out gone by in the fifth, Pedro Zapata hit a solo home run against West Virginia starter Melkin Laureano to tie the game at three.

The game remained tied at three after each of the next four innings. One night after Savannah’s R.J. Harris was charged with a loss after being forced to pitch the bottom of the fifteenth inning and walking in the winning run, the outfielder drove in two runs in the tenth and scored on a base hit to give the Sand Gnats a 6-3 advantage.

Justin Ennis (0-1) took the loss in his South Atlantic League debut, while Brandon Sage (3-5) gained the win. The Power loss snapped their season-best winning streak at four straight games and saw Savannah break up a five game losing skid.
