LAST GAME: Bowie pounded out 14 hits, five of which were

homers, in a 10-5 rout of Binghamton Tuesday night at Prince

George’s Stadium. Mike Antonini bore the brunt of the blow,

allowing eight earned runs on 10 hits over 3.2 innings for his

eighth loss of the season. The B-Mets struck first blood with a

two-run, bases-loaded double from Jose Coronado in the second

off Baysox starter Steve Johnson. That proved to be all

Johnson would allow as the right-hander coasted through six

innings, allowing just four hits and striking out a season-best

10. Bowie tied the game in the last of the second on a homer

from Carlos Rojas, a two-run blast to left. The Baysox blew the

doors down in the third with a seven-run rally with two outs,

which knocked Antonini from the game. The run scoring concluded

in the fourth with back-to-back-to-back homers from

Joel Guzman, Joe Mahoney and Brandon Waring. Coronado

led the B-Mets with a 2-3 showing with two RBI.

STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP: LHP Robert Carson will make

his second career Double-A start this morning in the finale of

the three-game set. In his debut at New Hampshire July 16,

the lefty permitted four runs on seven hits over four innings to

take the loss. The southpaw made 17 appearances (16

starts) in the Florida State League and went 7-5 with a 4.17

ERA over 86.1 innings. Carson had tossed six innings or better

in five of his last six starts with St. Lucie. He made 25 starts

for Savannah (Low-A) in 2009 and tallied an 8-10 mark with a

3.21 ERA over 131.2 innings to garner South Atlantic League

All-Star status. Carson was selected in the 14th round of the

June 2007 draft out of Hattiesburg HS (MS).

RHP Chorye Spoone will take the ball for his 20th start of the

season this morning. He is coming of a no-decision in his last

start at Richmond July 16 when he tied a season-high by allowing

10 hits over six innings, but just four runs (two earned)

with seven strikeouts. Spoone is 6-5 with a 3.69 ERA over

107.1 innings and has not lost a start since May 16. He leads

the lead in walks with 60. Spoone was a Major League Spring

Training invitee a year removed from making just 10 starts in

2009 as he recouped from right shoulder surgery. He was

drafted in the eighth round of the June 2005 draft out of

Catonsville Community College in Baltimore.
