Christian Montgomery is a 2011 RHP with a 6-1 240 lb. frame from Indianapolis, IN who attends Lawrence Central HS. Big thick frame, looks leaner and stronger than previously. Balanced drifting delivery, good leg drive, inconsistent with release points, easy 3/4's slot. 90-93 mph fastball, lots of 93's, gets good running action with + velocity. He's been up to 96-97. CB flashes hard biting action at times, big deep break when on top, around the plate with all pitches but not fine tuned yet. Did not throw change but has in the past. Power arm/power body. Draft should be interesting! Selected to the Aflac All-American team. - http://www.perfectgame.org/players/playerprofile.aspx?ID=212642
RHP Christian Montgomery Lawrence Central HS, Indianapolis Indiana 6’1 230 – power arm who will run fb up to 94-95, pitches at 90-91, fb mostly true and hard slider with sweep action that’s inconsistent but when he’s on, that pitch is above average, will rush himself and show some effort to his delivery but workable to improve. Also needs to tone up a bit and when football is over with, he can concentrate on pitching and work with a pro instructor to help smooth out his delivery. Reminds me a bit of reliever Rodney who pitches now for the Angels. Good upside! http://xmlbscout.angelfire.com/
At the high-school level, the same dilemma exists. Six-foot-1, 240-pound Lawrence Central High righthander Christian Montgomery has been acknowledged as the top prospect in his class for the better part of two years because of his combination of a big frame, power arm and advanced feel for pitching. But as the 2011 draft nears, Montgomery may no longer even be the best pitcher on his own high-school team. Montgomery has simply not been the same pitcher this spring as he has in the past. He appears to have a different delivery and arm slot, and his fastball, which once topped consistently in the mid-90s, often dipped into the high-80s. His breaking stuff and command also haven’t been as sharp. Still, Montgomery could end up becoming the first Indiana prep player drafted because he has expressed little or no interest in attending college, while all of his primary competitors appear locked in on playing baseball in college. He could earn the No. 1 nod almost by default. - http://www.perfectgame.com/
