Satin was drafting in the 6th round of the 2008 draft by the New York Mets.
Satin was drafted at 23 years old, so he’s moving as fast as he can. After signing in 2008, he played for Kingsport (.583/.615/1.000/1.615… okay, it was only 12 at bats) and Brooklyn (.280/.350/.462/.812).
2009 brought Savannah (.284/.385/.418/.803 in 440 at bats, 7-HR, 60-RBI) and a taste of St. Lucie (.364/.464/.591/1.055).
His 2-year professional totals are: .292/.384/.446/.830
Forecast: It’s obvious that Satin was a good draft pick and the kid can definitely get on base. We should see a little more power this year, but his biggest problem is the fact that Reese Havens is currently being converted to a second baseman in the Winter Leagues. Havens looks timed perfectly for the end of the Luis Castillo contract, which leaves Satin where?
I wrote on Feb 10: - Josh Satin – I didn’t spend much time with Josh last year in Savannah (hell, I didn’t spend much time with anyone there…). There’s no rush for Satin, who will settle into various minor league levels for a couple more years. He was tagged early on as a poor defensive infielder which just isn’t true.
5-27-11: - 2B/1B Josh Satin was asked to play AA this spring so he could get more time in the field. Seems the club had been enjoying his time as a DH in the system, but a boy does have to field in the majors, right? Josh said fine, and went back to where he hit .308 last season, has hit .305 so far this season, and has only committed seven errors playing both first and second. Reese Havens should be done with his St. Lucie rehab sometime this week and Satin needs to pack his backs for Buffalo. He deserves it.

He's a very patient hitter, not afraid to work the count, and comfortable batting with two strikes. Defensively, he's kind of without a position. Doesn't have the arm for third- in Moore's start someone beat his throw on what should have been a routine play- and doesn't have the range for second. The bat will play, though. Don't know if he will ever be a regular, and he's getting up there in prospect years, but I could see an upside of Jeff Keppinger with more walks.

I've said it before and i'll say it again...this guy needs to be promoted. I dont care who is playing what in Buffalo, Josh has hit everywhere hes played and has showed that AA should be in his rearview mirror. At this point, if I was Josh, i'd be extremely discouraged and wondering just what the heck else I could do to get a shot at the bigs. Hes hit and hit and hit, and his age is working against him. Ive heard the defense is a problem, but i'd trade the glove for a bat with his numbers in the lineup at Citifield anyday. I'm not saying he should be in Queens right now, i'm saying that with Ruben up with the big club, Reese not back to where he's a force right now, and Hu being the worse offensive player i've ever seen, this guy should be racking in AAA, sjowing what hes got
Josh and I have talked about this many times and I'm sure we will again at the end of the season (I like to leave the players alone until the season ends and then have a "Q and A" with them...
Josh is NOT going to get a shot. Some people just don't. The Mets have never slotted him well, yet Josh just continues to hit.
This here, he chose to go back to AA so he would get maximum field time, especially at 1B and 2B. He would have DH'd if he would have stayed in Buffalo.
I don't have any concrete reason why, but he simply has never been a high priority item for the team.
By the way, his defesne is average but much better than prospects like Marte and Flores
Ballplayers usually reach their "peak" anywhere from 26 to 33, and wouldn't you know it, this guy is in there. He's still young enough to contribute and with his stats, which is thee only thing I know of him, he should be getting a shot. If I was him, i'd be begging for a release or a trade, knowing that someone would value the past and present offense I had always shown. I'm sorry, but it's this ballplayers dream of taking the field in the majors and he has never shown himself to be overmatched. On the contrary, he has literally hit everything thrown to him and to not get a shot, has this fanatic wondering just what the whole point to playing hard and succeeding in the minors is? I'm dumbfounded. If you can't get a break with his numbers than why'd they even sign him? This guy can hit!!!
