B-Mets: - Pre-Game Notes

LAST GAME: Tobi Stoner gave up just one unearned run over seven innings, but Josh Stinson could not hold the lead in Bing-hamton’s 4-3 loss to the Altoona Curve last night at Blair County Ballpark. Stoner matched a season-high by going seven innings while giving up just two singles. He allowed the first run of the game to score on a wild pitch in the third. The B-Mets tied it up on Eric Campbell’s solo home run in the seventh and took the lead on Reese Havens’ RBI single in the eighth. Given a one-run cushion, Stinson took over in the eighth. After getting the first two outs, the righty allowed two singles, handed out a walk, and allowed a three-run double to Quincy Latimore. Back in possession of the lead, the Curve sent out Noah Krol for the ninth. Krol allowed a run, but closed the door for his 17th save.

STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP: RHP Matt Harvey makes his sixth start with the B-Mets and first against the Altoona Curve. Harvey comes off his finest performance so far in his Double-A career. The right-hander struck out ten Harrisburg Senators and allowed one run over seven innings in a no-decision on July 28.

RHP Michael Colla will make his 24th appearance of the year and 18th start. The right-hander from Fresno, California began the year in the Curve bullpen before being moved to the rota-tion in late April. He is currently suffering through a seven-game losing streak, with his last victory coming against Binghamton on May 30 when he tossed six shutout innings ay NYSEG Sta-dium. Colla was selected in the 14th round of the 2008 draft by the Pirates out of the University of Arizona.

A FINE OUTING: B-Mets starter Tobi Stoner tossed seven in-nings last night and only allowed an unearned run on two sin-gles. It was the second time this season Stoner has gone at least seven innings without allowing an earned run (6/24 @ Bowie). The last time Stoner allowed fewer than three hits over seven innings or more came with the Buffalo Bisons when he allowed just one single in seven shutout innings against the Pawtucket Red Sox on 7/10/09.

A LONG TIME COMING: Eric Campbell’s solo home run in the 7th inning last night was just his third of the season and first since May 13 when he took Kei Igawa deep for a two-run homer. Campbell, who stroked six home runs in 60 games with Binghamton last year, had gone 66 games between home runs.

ALL GOOD THINGS MUST END: B-Mets shortstop Jordany Valdespin went 0-for-4 with a sacrifice bunt in last night’s game, ending his hitting streak at 10 games, which was tied for the B-Met season-high with Eric Campbell. Valdespin hit .295 (13-44) over the stretch
