8/12/11
Stock: Pedro Perez, Juan Centeno, Travis Taijeron, Chin-lung Hu, Jordany Valdespin
8-10-11: - Stock Up – Pedro Perez went 2-5, HR, 1-R, 5-RBI today as part of a 17run DSL attack on Florida. Perez continues to play out of position (3B) and has now raised his BA to .265. The 6-1 switch hitter was born in 1994… my car is older than that.
8-10-11: - Stock Up – Juan Centeno – Centeno went 2-4 in the first game of today’s doubleheader and now sports a .305 batting average. Centeno was a quiet 32nd round draft pick in 2007 and has had a hard time getting at bats his entire five year Mets career. He hit .320 last year in 125 combined A/A+/AA and it’s nice to see he’s finally starting in his Rule V season.
8-10-11 – Stock Up – Travis Taijeron - “Tyrone” just keeps on mashing the ball, this time was a grand glam eight home run of the season. He now leads the NY-Penn league with a .53 slugging percentage, which is 47 points more than the closest player in the ranking. It has to only a matter of days before he joins the Sand Gnats for their playoff run.
8-11-11: - Stock Down – Chin-lung Hu – Hu is that slick fielding infielder the Mets signed before the season started after being released by the Dodgers. Hu actually had 43-AB in Queens this year (.050) before being sent down and then placed on the DL. He’s rehabbing this week for the GCL-Mets and is off to err… a typical Hu start: .083.
8-11-11: - Stock Down – Seems it didn’t take long for Jordany Valdespin to get back to his old tricks once he hit the AAA. Reports are that the diva decided to only jog out, not one, but two, ground balls during Thursday’s game. I’m sure manager Tim Teufel was just thrilled to lock horns once again with Spin. It will be interesting to see if he’s in today’s lineup. Good bat, but leopards can’t change spots… or was that tigers?
