LAST GAME: The B-Mets left nine runners on base and went 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position in a 2-1 loss to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats last night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. Binghamton had at least one runner aboard every inning except the ninth and had a runner in scoring position in five different innings. B-Mets starter Mark Cohoon allowed two runs on seven hits over six innings in the loss. Elvin Ramirez struck out four over two shutout innings. The Fisher Cats scored both their runs in the third thanks to a walk, a throwing error by Cohoon, a double by John Tolisano and a wild pitch. Oswaldo Navarro drove home Binghamton’s only run on a sin-gle dumped into right field in the sixth.

STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP: RHP Collin McHugh (1-1, 2.31) makes his third start of the season and second on this roadtrip. McHugh earned the win in his previous start against the Port-land Sea Dogs on April 12. He allowed just one run on seven hits over 5.2 innings. McHugh, an 18th round draft pick by the Mets in 2008, made 16 starts with Binghamton last year, going 8-2 with a 2.89 ERA. He was named the team’s Pitcher of the Year following the season.

RHP Chad Jenkins (1-1, 4.15) makes his third start of the sea-son. He dropped his previous game against the New Britain Rock Cats on April 12. The righty allowed five runs on five hits, including three home runs, over seven innings. Jenkins was selected in the 1st round as the 20th overall pick in the 2009 draft by the Blue Jays out of Kennesaw State University. He split 2011 between Dunedin (High-A) and New Hampshire. The Tennessee native went 5-7 with a 4.13 ERA in 16 starts with the Fisher Cats last year.

STREAKING ALONG: B-Mets outfielder Matt den Dekker ex-tended his hitting streak to eight games with a single in the sixth inning last night. It is the longest streak for any B-Met this season. Den Dekker is hitting .364 (12-for-22) over the stretch. Den Dekker’s longest hitting streak with Binghamton last year was five games.

STRUGGLING IN THE CLUTCH: In 10 games this season, the B-Mets are hitting just .188 (16-85) as a team with runners in scoring position. Matt den Dekker is batting .083 (1-12) in that situation this year. Over the last three games, the B-Mets are hitting .187 (6-32) with runners at second or third.

SEPARATE FROM THE PACK: While the B-Mets have struggled as a team with runners in scoring position, Oswaldo Navarro and Jefry Marte have not. Marte is hitting .556 (5-9) in that situation and Navarro has gone .429 (3-7). Three of Navarro’s four hits on the year have come with runners in scoring posi-tion. Navarro and Marte are tied for the team lead with seven RBIs each.
