Jayson Nix has cleared waivers and has been out
righted by the Yankees to the Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre roster.
OF Andruw Jones has signed with the Tohoku Rakuten
Golden Eagles of Japan's Pacific League
Arizona signs
right-hander Brandon McCarthy… 2-yr, $15.5mil.
It seems to me that the Diamondbacks may have something else brewing
here. Currently, with this signing, the rotation stacks up as McCarthy (8-6,
3.24), Wade Miley (16-11, 3.33), Trevor Cahill (13-12, 3.78),
Ian Kennedy (15-12, 4.02), Pat Corbin (6-8, 4.54)… plus grown up
prospects Trevor Bauer (4-starts, 1-2, 6.06) and
Tyler Skaggs (6-starts, 1-3, 5.83). You have to
assume that both Bauer and Skaggs make the 2013 rotation, but then what? Look
for either Miley, Cahill, or Kennnedy to be moved.
The Red resign OF Ryan Ludwick.
The Braves lose their
their 2013 1st round in June’s draft for signing B.J.
Upton – the Mets now have pick #12.
RP Gonzalez Germen – 0.1-IP, 1-H, 0-R, 6.14
RF Luis Rivera – 0-4, 1-R, .300
C Francisco Pena – 1-5, 1-RBI, 2-K, .257
RF Juan Lagares – 1-4, 1-R, .267
CF Cesar Puello – 1-3, 1-R, .235
RP Armando Rodriguez – 1.2-IP, 0-H, 0-R, 3-K, 0-BB, 1.52
This is still the one minor league relief pitcher you need to keep your
eyes on. He could easily make it to the Queens pen out of camp depending upon
how well he does this spring training. The Mets were lucky he passed through
the Rule 5 Draft. I see A-Rod as a keeper.

The Mets had pick #11. I don't understand why the Braves pick would impact the Mets since the Braves were drafting at the bottom before the Upton signing.
