out in a 7 - 1 win over the Jackson Mets. With the bases loaded, Ron Gooch flies out to Archie Amerson. Amerson's throw home to get Mike Jirschele is off-target and the ball
bounces away from C Stan Hough as

Danny Heep had a pivotal AB in game 6 against Houston. As I recall, in the 9th or 10th, score tied, bags full, 3-2 count, he couldn't lay off ball 4, which would have given the Mets the lead, and was punched out, sending the tie game for the ages onward towards the 16th inning ultimate triumph.
Brito: 100 MPH FB, and $1,000,000 smile - welcome to the Mets.
I am looking forward to Cespedes in 2020 - I wear rose-colored glasses.
When Aaron was a kid, I hear he was an Altherr Boy. For a failed player, he gets immense coverage.
I'm going to write more on the Venezuelan Brito, but it is good to see that the Mets continue to beat out 29 teasm for some of these top international guppies.
Mack: looking forward to your article on Brito. other than the top speed of 101-102 not a lot out there on him. is he as wild as Ryan Duren or Steve Dalkowski? other pitches? did he slip by everyone, or was there a bidding war? signing bonus? I'd be interested in whatever you come up with.
You made a good point yesterday about his being "old" (21!) for a VZ signing. I wonder what made him bypassed by all MLB teams when he was 17-20. Does he have any stats from VZ? Did he even play in the Winter League there, or a Summer one (if that exists)?
