In Focus - Kodai Senga - YESTERDAY"S HIGHLIGHTS

Pitch Profiler                      @pitchprofiler

Kodai Senga’s Ghost Fork is still haunting hitters!

5 IP, 0 R, 5 H, 4 K, 0 barrels — and the Ghost Fork led the way with a 111 proStuff+ and a 20% whiff rate.

Another smooth outing for the Mets righty.

Mack –

Does everybody understand barrel%?

See, I had it back ass backwards. For some reason, I thought a low barrel% was a bad thing. Don’t know why. Just my fading brain.

Kodai Senga threw 77 pitches and not one of them produced a barrel.

THAT’S how you win a game, especially if you are having trouble from the get-go finding the zone.

Senga eventually settled down and produced another winner winner chicken dinner for the Mets.

YESTERDAY

Christopher Soto               @SotoC803

Dear Ronny Mauricio,

Please get healthy soon and start playing again....

Ernest Dove            @ernestdove

Jose Butto has been a godsend to the Mets active roster almost since day one of his major league career. We just need Dedniel Nunez back to join him

Mets Prospect Group                  @bkfan09

Josue Guevara coming off of being named Mets DSL POY

44IP                52K/12BB                1.64 ERA

Guevara is stateside in some pre season FCL games

He’s an interesting lottery ticket, LHP funky delivery, tall kid at 6’4” already at 17 yrs old . Low bonus , absolutely worth it

SNY                @SNY

"We want to win as many as we can. I know it's early, but it's really important to get off to a good start."

Ryne Stanek

Mike Janela             @MikeJanela

Jesse Winker is getting some of the loudest ovations of any of the Mets every time he comes to the plate, and it’s just a reminder that these fans know ball

Mike Mayer                        @mikemayer22

For the first time in his career, Juan Soto has a 10-game on-base streak to start a season.

The Mets are on pace for 113 wins.

The Mets pitching staff leads Major League Baseball with a 1.72 ERA.

Pitch Profiler                      @pitchprofiler

David Peterson has the lowest average bat speed against among starters (69.3 mph) — 5th lowest overall.

No idea what it means, but it’s cool. He keeps getting outs despite low stuff model scores.

Michael Baron                    @michaelgbaron

Coming into play today, the Mets were getting sub .400 OPS's from three positions to start the year. Not exactly great, and not hard to figure out where the problem is with the offense

José Buttó with a quality and lengthy outing out of the bullpen tonight to extend the #Mets early season dominance in that department.

Mets pitching, first 10 games:

1.72 ERA

Starters: 2.16 ERA

Relievers: 1.15 ERA

Mets pitchers have the opposition over a barrel.

Nunez? Where do you put him?

Winker - what's not to like?

Can we just play only the Marlins until September 1?

Tell Sal Licata that April (and March) is the worst career hitting period for Soto. One more reason I hate night games for the Mets in April.

That double he hit to left center goes out of the park in warmer weather.

Soto should heat up against the As, who have allowed three times as many runs as Mets pitchers have.

Right now I leave this pen intact

The Mets can seem to make Cy Young candidates out of anybody - the guy that they got one hit in six innings against in Houston went to Minnesota for his next start and gave up 5 earned runs while getting just 8 outs against that powerhouse club.

His OBP is just fine

What is not to like about Winker is his showboating. Everyone raves about his two triples in Monday's game, but it should have been a triple and an in-the-park homer because Springer took himself out on the wall. Instead, Winker enjoyed the view until it didn't leave the field, then legged out a triple and didn't score. Without Lindor's ninth inning heroics, Winker is the goat.

Sal Licata is not listening to anything except his own voice.

Senga had great barrel numbers in that game, but the rest of his stats really don't jump out and cry "Ace". The ghost fork is a great pitch, but the rest of his pitches are not anywhere near the caliber of other teams' aces.
