In his first season as manager of the St. Lucie Mets, Edgar Alfonzo will have a pitching staff that he is very familiar with.

"I have the staff I had last year," said Alfonzo, who managed Savannah in the South Atlantic League last season.

Alfonzo, 41, takes over after Tim Teufel left St. Lucie to manage Class AA Binghamton. Alfonzo managed the Brooklyn Cyclones of the New York-Penn League in 2001, 2007 and 2008. He also was a St. Lucie coach in 1998, 1999 and 2002.

The Mets' starting rotation includes Jeurys Familia, Scott Moviel, Robert Carson, Kyle Allen, Eric Beaulac and Chris Schwinden. Moviel is the only one who didn't play for Alfonzo last year - link
