TODAY’S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons face the Rochester Red Wings in the final game of a three-game series from Coca-Cola Field (6:05 p.m.). The Herd is a perfect 4-0 on a five-game homestand that ends tonight. Tomorrow, the Bisons begin a four-game series in Syracuse against the Chiefs.
FAMILIAR FOES: With last night’s win, the Bisons have now won six consecutive games within their division. The Herd is 19-15 against the IL North and have closed to within 3.5 games of division-leading Syracuse. Forty-six of the club’s 62 remaining games are against divisional opponents.
The Bisons have won four straight games, outscoring their opponents, 29-9, in the process. The stretch is just one-shy of the season-high five-game win streak from May 19-23. In the last four games, the Bisons have averaged .333 (45-135) with 15 doubles and five home runs, while the pitching staff has posted a 1.75ERA with only six walks to 32 strikeouts.
OF LUCAS DUDA will be looking to make Bisons’ history tonight. The Triple-A rookie has homered in five straight games, a feat accomplished only four other times in the 125-year history of the team. The list includes Buffalo-legend Ollie Carnegie (1938), Carlos Garcia (1992), Bill Selby (1998) and most recently, Andy Marte (2006). Duda has 10RBI during the home run streak and has now hit in 14 of his first 16 games with the Bisons.
OF JORGE PADILLA enters tonight’s game on a six-game hit streak. Since Sunday, the outfielder has averaged .458 (11-24) with, five RBI and seven runs scored. Acquired by the Mets on June 19, Padilla has hit .345 (19-55) with two homers and 10RBI in his first 14 games with the Herd.
INF MIKE JACOBS has been all over the base paths this homestand. In four games, Jacobs has hit .333 (5-15) with four doubles, six RBI, four walks and two runs scored. He hit two doubles last night, giving him a team-high 20 on the season. Jacobs is also second on the club with 42RBI.
