Brooklyn 6, State College 2

Brooklyn took the first game of a three-game series on Thursday night, defeating the State College Spikes by a score of 6-2 behind another double-digit hit total and another outstanding pitching performance.


C Juan Centeno led the offense, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and hitting his first professional home run. Brooklyn's offense tallied six runs on 13 total hits. CF Darrell Ceciliani put together another impressive game at the plate, going 3-for-4 to raise his season average to .392. Ceciliani scored two runs and stole three bases to bring his team-leading total to seven swipes. 3B Joe Bonfe also registered a three-hit day, going 3-for-4 with one RBI. 2B J.B. Brown added two more hits, going 2-for-4 with one run. 1B Jeff Flagg, SS Rylan Sandoval, and DH Will Cherry each checked in with one hit apiece.



LHP Mitch Houck improved to 3-0 with another strong outing. Houck  held State College off the board until the seventh inning, when he ran into the only trouble of the night, and allowed two runs. Houck went 6.2 innings, allowing two runs on six hits and one walk, while striking out eight. RHP Ryan Fraser came on for the last out of the seventh inning and tossed 1.1 scoreless frames of relief, allowing two hits with two strikeouts. LHP Hamilton Bennett came on to close out the Spikes in the ninth inning, surrendering one hit while striking out two.
