from press release

The Savannah Sand Gnats blasted the Asheville Tourists 11-6 on Thursday night in the opening game of a five-game series in Asheville. Gnats' first baseman Travis Ozga tied a team-high with five RBI.

Down 3-2 after four innings, the Gnats took the lead for good with a four-run fifth. Savannah loaded the bases for 3B Jefry Marte who drove home CF Pedro Zapata to tie the game. Ozga followed with line drive into right that plated LF RJ Harris and RF Cesar Puello to give Savannah a 5-3 lead. A sacrifice fly from DH Nick Santomauro completed the inning's scoring and gave Savannah a 6-3 lead.

The Gnats added three more runs in the sixth to open up a 9-3 lead. Harris singled home Zapata and then Ozga singled home two more runs. Ozga finished 2-5 with five RBI, matching a Gnats' team high set first by Wilmer Flores on April 20th. Ozga was one of five Gnats with multiple hits. Harris was 2-3 with a home run, his second as a Gnat, two RBI and two walks. 2B Jet Butler was 2-5, C Dock Doyle was 2-4 with a walk and Zapata, batting at the top of the order, was 2-6 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Savannah starter Taylor Whitenton worked around nine hits and two walks to hold the Tourists to three runs in six innings to earn his fourth win of the year.
