Preston Tucker:
7-26 from: - link - Here are some names of draft eligibles for 2011 who have not been mentioned much and are definitely on the radar for 2011 MLB scouting depts. – First Base - Preston Tucker, Florida, 6'0 215, lefty power, does a good job at fielding position.
Mikal Hill:
7-29-10 from: - link - SS, Mikal Hill, had a decent day at the plate on Wednesday and had a few plays in the field, including a routine grounder he showed his acrobatic skills on for an error, he basically took a nose dive on the edge of the infield grass coming in on a grounder, then he comes back with a couple of plays to his right with solid arm strength across the diamond and range into the OF on a couple of pop ups.
Colton Murray:
7-30-10 from: - link - • Colton Murray, RHP, Kansas -- A true swing-and-miss threat, Murray showed off perhaps the best breaking ball of the day. Sitting 91-94 mph with his heavy moving fastball, Murray was able to finish hitters with a devastating, plus 82-84 mph slider. If he can continue to throw those two pitches for strikes he can be very effective in the back of the 'pen. He does mix in a decent changeup, but his high-effort delivery doesn't make him a great starting candidate.
John Magliozzi:
8-2 from: - link - Aflac All-American RHP John Magliozzi retired the Royals in the bottom of the 5th inning as the Yankees retained their 2-1 lead. Magliozzi pitched in the 90-94 mph range with his fastball with his customary deceptive 80 mph change up. Magliozzi tends to lower his release point a bit on his change up but it is a very effective pitch with very good late life down in the zone. The diminutive right hander still needs work on a soft curveball.
Joe Panik:
8-2 from: - link - COCA COLA PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Joe Panik, Y-D IF - A stellar week has become even more memorable for Y-D shortstop Joe Panik (St. John’s). A few days after starting for the East in the Cape Cod League All-Star game at Fenway Park, he was named Coca Cola Player of the Week. On Wednesday, Panik was a top performer for the East, going 1-for-2 and throwing a runner out at home plate. Back on the Cape, he had a banner week, hitting .423, with one home run and seven RBI. As a sophomore at St. John’s, Panik’s .374 batting average and .477 on-base percentage were second on the team. He has led the Red Storm in walks in each of his two years, a skill that has transferred well to the Cape League: His patience has earned him the Y-D team lead in walks and on-base percentage.
