Brooklyn 14, Batavia 4

from press release:

On Irish Heritage Night at MCU Park, the Brooklyn Cyclones (32-15) out-slugged the Batavia Muckdogs (27-19) by the score of 14-4 in front of a crowd of 8,859. CF Darrell Ceciliani and RF Cory Vaughn propelled the Cyclones on Thursday night with back-to-back home runs in the first inning and the offense never looked back. Brooklyn finished the game with a season-high 20 hits, including seven extra-base hits.

The fleet-footed Ceciliani fell a triple short of the cycle, collecting a single, double, and home run, as well as a career-high four RBI. His home run in the first inning was his first of the season and third of his career. Thursday night was the eighth time in which Ceciliani has registered three hits and fourth time he has scored three runs in a ballgame this year. Slugger Vaughn crushed his 11th home run and notched his 41st RBI in the first inning. Vaughn now sits two home runs and five RBI short of the single-season Cyclone records with 29 games remaining. SS Rylan Sandoval, C Blake Forsythe, and 3B Brian Harrison also contributed to the hit parade, collecting three hits apiece.

LHP Chris Hilliard (7-1) earned his league-leading seventh win on Thursday night, surrendering four runs on five hits over five innings. Hilliard is now two wins shy of the Cyclone win record, but will not start again until after the New York-Penn League All-Star break next week. RHP Daniel Carela relieved Hilliard and threw two scoreless innnings, lowering his ERA to a miniscule 0.73. Southpaw Hamilton Bennett entered in the eighth inning and allowed a single while striking out two. Flamethrower Ryan Fraser pitched a scoreless ninth inning to cement the victory.
