B-Mets Pre-Game Notes

LAST GAME: The B-Mets set season-highs in home runs (6), runs scored, and margin of victory in an 11-1 win over the Reading Phillies at FirstEnergy Stadium last night. Matt den Dekker led off the game with his fifth home run of the season, and the B-Mets would never look back. Allan Dykstra added a two-run shot of his own to give Binghamton a 3-0 cushion. It was all Collin McHugh would need to earn his third win of the season. The right-hander allowed just one run over five innings. Every hitter in the Binghamton lineup collected a hit, including McHugh. Jordany Valdespin added two home runs, Dusty Ryan put a solo dinger up in the ninth, and Brahiam Maldonado hit his second in as many days. Jack Egbert tossed four shutout innings and collected his first save in his B-Mets debut.

STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP: RHP Tobi Stoner makes his 11th start with Binghamton this season and first career start against the Reading Phillies. Stoner comes off a no-decision to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on July 17. He allowed just one run on five hits over 6.1 innings and was eligible for the win until the B-Mets bullpen let the lead slip away.

RHP B.J. Rosenberg will make his 13th start of season and 24th appearance. The Virginia native started the season in the R-Phils bullpen. Rosenberg allowed just four earned runs over 19.2 innings of the pen (1.83 ERA) in eleven games before being moved to the rotation in lay May. In his previous starts, he has compiled an ERA of 5.55. He won his last start against the Trenton Thunder on July 17, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits over 5.1 innings. Rosenberg was selected in the 13th round of the 2008 draft by the Phillies out of the Univer-sity of Louisville.

LONGBALL OVERDOSE: Binghamton’s total of six home runs last night put them one shy of the franchise record of seven, which was set on 8/15/97 against the Portland Sea Dogs.

OFF ON THE RIGHT FOOT: Matt den Dekker’s blast last night was his second of the season to lead off a first inning. Bing-hamton has done that five times this season. The other three homers have been supplied by Jordany Valdespin.

OFFENSE KEEPS ROLLING: Over the last four games, the B-Mets have compiled 31 runs, 55 hits, and stroked ten home runs.

TWO WEEKS NOTICE: After going 3-10 from June 26 to July 6, the B-Mets have turned things around. Since July 7, Bingham-ton is 10-4, with nine of those victories coming against teams with winning records
